What are the advantages of titanium screws and titanium fasteners?

As the raw material for producing titanium alloy screws, titanium is a very active metal. Titanium screws are more flexible and resistant to oxidation than traditional stainless steel.

Titanium fasteners are widely used in various industries. Compared with titanium screws, ordinary stainless steel screws are more pressure-resistant in high pressure environment. Therefore, titanium alloy is selected for production in aerospace metals, and titanium screws are one of the connectors.

Titanium screws and titanium fasteners have the following advantages.

1, low density, high specific strength: the density of titanium metal is 4.51g/cm3, higher than aluminum, lower than steel, copper and nickel, but the specific strength is located in the upper part of the metal.

2, corrosion resistance: titanium is a very active metal, its equilibrium potential is very low, in the middle of the thermodynamic tendency, easy to corrosion. But in fact, titanium is very stable in many environments because titanium is resistant to corrosion in oxidizing, neutral and weakly reducing environments.

3, good heat resistance: the new titanium alloy can be used for a long time at a temperature above 600℃.

4. Good low temperature resistance: The low-temperature titanium alloys represented by titanium alloys TA7 (Ti-5Al-2.5Sn), TC4 (Ti-6Al-4V) and Ti-2.5Zr-1.5Mo increase their strength with the decrease of temperature, but their ductility changes little. It maintains good ductility and toughness at low temperature -196-253℃ and avoids cold brittleness of metal. It is an ideal material for low-temperature containers, storage tanks and other equipment.

5, high damping resistance: titanium metal is affected by mechanical and electrical vibration. The damping time of its own vibration is longer than that of steel and copper.

6, no magnetic, non-toxic: titanium is a non-magnetic metal, in a large magnetic field will not be magnetized, non-toxic, and human tissue and blood have good compatibility, so as to facilitate the use of the medical community.

7. Tensile strength is close to yield strength: This characteristic of titanium explains its high yield strength ratio (tensile strength/yield strength), which indicates that titanium metal materials in the forming process of plastic deformation is very low. The yield strength of titanium and the ratio of modulus to strength are important, so titanium can form when springback is important.

8, good heat transfer characteristics: the thermal conductivity of titanium metal compared with carbon steel and copper is low, but because titanium has excellent corrosion resistance, its wall thickness can be greatly reduced, the heat transfer mode for the surface and water droplets condensation vaporization, reduce the hot mass, while the surface does not crack, can also reduce the thermal resistance, so that the heat transfer efficiency of titanium greatly improved.

9. Low elastic modulus: the elastic modulus of titanium is a high standard of 106.4 at room temperature, which is 57% of that of steel.

10. Gas absorption efficiency: titanium screw is a very active metal with chemical properties. It can react with many elements and compounds at high temperature. The gas absorption of titanium mainly refers to the reaction with carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen at high temperatures.
