◆ Low density, high specific strength: the density of titanium is 4.51g/cm3, higher than aluminum and lower than steel, copper, nickel, but the specific strength is in the first metal.


◆ Corrosion resistance: Titanium is a very active metal, its equilibrium potential is very low, in the medium of thermodynamic corrosion tendency. But in fact titanium is very stable in many media, such as titanium in oxidizing, neutral and weak reducing media is corrosion resistant.


Good heat resistance: the new titanium alloy can be used for a long time at 600℃ or higher temperature.

◆ The tensile strength is close to its yield strength: the performance of titanium shows that its strength ratio (tensile strength/yield strength) is high, indicating that the metal titanium material in forming plastic deformation. Three functions of titanium


Functional materials are engineering materials with physical properties, that is, materials with special properties in electricity, magnetism, sound, light, heat, etc., or with special functions under their action. Studies of titanium and titanium alloys have found that they have three specific functions and promising applications:


1. Memory function: Ti-Ni alloy has unidirectional, bidirectional and omnidirectional memory effect at a certain ambient temperature, and is recognized as a better memory alloy. 2. Superconducting function: Niobium-titanium alloy shows zero resistance superconducting function when the temperature is below the critical temperature.


3. Hydrogen storage function: titanium-iron alloy has the characteristics of hydrogen absorption, storing a large amount of hydrogen safely, and releasing hydrogen in a certain environment. This is promising for hydrogen separation, hydrogen purification, hydrogen storage and transportation, and the manufacture of hydrogen heat pumps and storage batteries.
