Zirconium is a very corrosion-resistant metal that is resistant to most organic acids, inorganic acids, strong alkalis and some molten salts. Therefore, zirconium materials can be used in some critical parts in corrosive environments to improve equipment life. Its acid resistance is better than titanium and all kinds of steel, close to tantalum. Zirconium is also quite stable in alkali solution. Zirconium is completely resistant to attack by alkaline solution and molten alkali, and its corrosion resistance in sodium hydroxide medium is the same as nickel. Due to its excellent corrosion resistance, zirconium is in many cases much better than tantalum and precious metals.
Zirconium's high oxygen absorption in high temperature air can obtain a dense oxide film, which makes its corrosion resistance and erosion resistance stronger. Zirconium and zirconium alloys are mainly used in chemical equipment with high corrosion resistance due to their excellent mechanical properties and high temperature resistance. Such as: heat exchanger, container lining, valves, pump housing, blades, agitator, conduit, etc. There are also many chemical equipment for the production of fertilizers, resins, plastics and acids.
The composition of Zr702 zirconium is close to pure zirconium, mainly adding a small amount of O, H and N elements, its corrosion resistance is high, but the mechanical property is low, in the sulfuric acid medium containing FeCl3 used as a chemical pipeline.
Zr705 zirconium alloy is zirconium niobium alloy, its mechanical properties are 2 times that of Zr702 alloy, the strength and elongation requirements of the relatively high chemical equipment, such as fence heat exchanger, usually use Zr705 alloy as raw materials.
