The commonly used tungsten alloy is W-Ni-Fe alloy, the composition of which is 93W-4.9Ni-2.1Fe and 95W-4Ni-Fe. Cobalt is sometimes added to W-Ni-Fe alloys to improve the strength and wear resistance of the alloys. The interfacial strength of tungsten particles can be increased by adding cobalt. The cobalt content is 5 to 15 percent.
Due to the characteristics of tungsten alloy, tungsten alloy is used in shielding parts, crankshaft, counterweight parts, netsuke, armor piercing bullets and so on.
Tungsten alloy is also known as the "3 high "material (high density, high strength, high hardness). Although the volume of tungsten alloy is small, but the mass is very large, can be used as a counterweight. Tungsten alloy counterweight can be used in aircraft, racing cars and so on.
